Downloaded the latest drivers from tascam web site -Ģ. no big deal - was like 15 bucks at tiger direct over here - easy installġ. My usb ports are Nvida chip sets so - I had no choice. Since I had a week to wait for it - i installed a via chip usb 2.00 card with 5 ports to dedicate to the 1641. One of the things I researched about it - was that it doesnt work so good if you have a Nvidia chip runnig your usb 2.00 - tascam said to either run it at high latency (blach) or get a card that doesnt have a Nvida chip set It works good it works good it works good It works good it works good it works good I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I got it I too am eagar about the us1641 - I hope its as good as the reviews I read - if i have problems with it ( i hope not)- Then I plan on taking it back and getting an edirol - if its as trusty as the us - 122 i will be happy i think the us-122 is a great 2 channel unit - never had a problem on it on my lap top or desk top. I did have some successful recordings on it the 2 years I owned it - but man - what a PITA - drop outs - drivers vanishing - constant buffer adjusting - I am back on my tascam us-122 until it gets here some time this week. I thought the alesis firewire 12 was a bargain - until i worked with it - man those drivers are awful - and now alesis gave up on the unit and discontinued it - GC gave me 100 bucks credit for the unit - its all I expected them to do.
